The Day-1 Portfolio Day Trading System
100% Systematic Day Trading System with Portfolio Management
Performance Money Back Guarantee
Available for TradeStation 8.6 and above
The Day-1 trading system is a rule based day trading system designed to systematically trade a portfolio of stocks. The Day-1 system looks to identify both long and short trading signals within the stock market through the use of TradeStation by scanning and sorting the entire universe of stocks and identifying trading opportunities. Every aspect of the day trading process has been systematically laid out from scanning and identifying which stocks meet the Day-1 setup, to entries, exits and stops. No positions are held overnight.
As part of the Day-1 trading system we have provided multiple portfolio configurations in an effort to accommodate different trading styles and we have also included a second version of the Day-1 system for traders looking to find additional trading opportunities. In addition to multiple portfolios we have included DVPS, a dynamic position formula for adjusting positions sizes to help smooth overall performance and potentially increase returns.
The Day-1 portfolio day trading system is simple and easy to learn and based upon quantifiable research. The Day-1 trading system has been designed and tested using data from over 24,000 stocks, including thousands of delisted stocks, thus demonstrating the systems consistent performance and reducing the risk of survival bias.
The table below shows the simulated returns for the Day-1 portfolio day trading system on a month by month basis along with the compounded annual returns for each year for all stocks tested between January 2001 and June 2011. The performance tables are based upon using a leveraged/margin portfolio by allocating trading capital within the portfolio at 100% for long trades and 100% for short trades. While the portfolio is likely be under 100% invested a lot of the time and it is uncommon for the Day-1 portfolio to be fully invested some traders may be uncomfortable using leverage/margin trading and you can find performance data when using a non-leveraged portfolio further down this page.
Day-1 Portfolio Trading System Monthly Returns - Original Version - 01/01/01 - 06/30/11
Includes slippage/commission of 4 cents per share/per trade.
The Day-1 trading system is not an automated strategy. The system requires that you scan the stock market once a day using TradeStation's scanner or RadarScreen applications after the market has closed, or before the market opens the next day, to identify your stock watch list for the upcoming trading day. Using the results from TradeStation and our step-by-step instructions you can track and trade the stocks in your watch list. This is a day trading system and no positions are help overnight
This is not a black box trading system - All the rules of the Day-1 portfolio day trading system are fully disclosed.
The Day-1 portfolio day trading system is 100% systematic, providing a comprehensive set of rules for stock scanning and selection, order entries, exits and stops, and portfolio management. Using a systematic trading system reduces the emotions that can cloud our judgment as nothing has been left to discretion or guesswork. Every aspect of the Day-1 portfolio trading system has been laid out with clear stock selection rules for both long and short trades and precise rules for entries, exits and stops. The Day-1 trading system also includes portfolio selection rules so you know how many orders to place each day.
The trading system has been programmed into a TradeStation strategy along with two detailed trading system manuals explaining the trading system in full. The TradeStation strategy is provided in open code for you to view and as with most TradeStation strategies the Day-1 TradeStation strategy also includes multiple inputs for you to personalize or optimize the system if you wish, although this is not necessary. We will also provide a set of TradeStation indicators for scanning and identifying Day-1 setups each day as well as pre-configured workspaces for you to monitor and manage the Day-1 portfolio trading system. This trading system is 100% systematic with clearly defined entry and exit rules.
We are confident in the continued profitable performance of this system and that the Day-1 trading system will benefit your trading which is why we are backing the Day-1 system with a money back guarantee if the system is not profitable after 180 days from when you purchased it. See below for details.
Profitable in all Market Conditions
The Day-1 portfolio trading system has been profitable in bullish, bearish and sideways markets as demonstrated by the table below comparing the annual performance of the Day-1 portfolio trading system against the S&P 500.

Dynamic Volatility Position Sizing
The Day-1 trading system also includes the option to adjust position sizes utilizing DVPS (Dynamic Volatility Position Sizing). Simply DVPS adjust position sizes based upon volatility to help smooth out overall performance and increase potential returns. DVPS is not exclusive to the Day-1 system and you can apply the principles of DVPS to other systems if you wish. How and why DVPS works is fully explained as part of the Day-1 trading system. As DVPS adjusts position sizes it can involve additional leverage being used and each portfolio has been systematically tested with and without DVPS. The table below shows the performance of the original Day-1 system when DVPS is applied.

Additional Portfolios and Trading System
The Day-1 trading system is not limited to just one style of trading. As part of the Day-1 trading system we have provided additional ways to apply the Day-1 system, with or without DVPS, to either take advantage of more trading opportunities or to become more conservative and diversified in your day trading portfolio. The performance tables below are taken from our advanced portfolio method for full-time day traders. This portfolio is the preferred method for trading.
The advanced entry portfolio involves a trade selection process which could not be simulated 100% systematically during testing. To evaluate the performance of the advanced entry portfolio we applied a random entry filter to each trade. In an attempt to provide a more reliable test when using random entries the random entry test was run 50 times for each table and the average returns compiled for each month and used in the performance tables below.

The main portfolios assume the use of leverage/margin by allocating trading capital up to 100% long and up to 100% short. While the portfolio is likely to be under 100% invested a lot of the time and it is uncommon for the Day-1 portfolio to be fully invested at 200% some traders may be uncomfortable using leverage/margin. For such traders we have included a portfolio method which allows both long and short trading opportunities to be taken without the use of leverage.

Day-1 Portfolio Trading System Monthly Returns - Non-Leveraged Version with DVPS - 01/01/01 - 06/30/11
In addition to the original version of the Day-1 trading system we will also include a second version of the Day-1 system which looks to identify additional trading opportunities. Below you will find the performance tables for version 2 of the Day-1 system in its original form and with DVPS applied. However the trading manual will also contain information on using version 2 of the system with advanced order entry, non-leveraged portfolios and other portfolios.

We will also provide a set of Day-1 portfolio day trading system indicators for TradeStation which can be used with TradeStation to scan, identify and manage trading signals.
